These VCI compounds will be released slowly from their carrier material \u2013 as shown in the animation \u2013 until a protective atmosphere has been created within the package.<\/p>\n<p>The inhibitors are then deposited on the metal surface, thus preventing disintegration\/corrosion of the protective passive layer on the metal.
